Itchy.... and you will be too!

So tonight at dance class, Caitlyn came running over for me to change her shoes... she bent down to take her ballet shoes off and I noticed she had a small "boo boo" on the back of her head. I thought it was a scratch so I asked her and she said she fell... end of story.

Tonight she was in the bathroom and asked for help, and I saw the mark again and asked her to get a better look at it. It took me all of a second to realize... EW! It was a tick, feeding from the back of her head!

(please note... this is not "her tick" but it is what it looked like)

So I grab the phone and call her doctor's office... and hear that its "tick season"!? GREAT! She was outside yesterday and today at preschool playing in the leaves and also here at home. So I removed the tick and now have to monitor her for 6 weeks for signs of Lyme disease. Never a dull moment with this child! She was a trouper when I took it out, I know it hurt a little, but she did great. SO... PARENTS: Check your kids EVERY TIME you come in for the next few weeks. Hopefully we have a cold winter to kill them off...
